Mentors Needed for Tennessee Promise

Beginning with the Class of 2015, Tennessee Promise will provide Tennessee high school graduates the opportunity to attend a community or technical college FREE of tuition and fees but many mentors are needed for only about 1 hour per month to help these students reach their potential.

The mentoring program is a crucial component that has been shown to have a significant impact on increasing the likelihood of students entering the post-secondary pipeline. tnAchieves, a partnering organization to Governor Haslam’s Tennessee Promise, designed its mentoring program so even the busiest executive, parent, or young professional could make a meaningful impact.

As of THIS morning, tnAchieves still needs:
30 more mentors for students from Bartlett High School
70 more mentors for students from Bolton High School

and mentors for all other local high schools

Each mentor’s role is simple but significant.

As a mentor, you would:

  • complete an application
  • choose your preferred high school
  • complete a one-hour training session
  • attend two one-hour meetings
  • communicate with students every two weeks via email, phone or text as they transition from high school to college.
Join tnAchieves by signing up by November 1st to be a mentor as we seek to change lives and transform communities by www.tnachieves.org/mentor-application.
