Opportunity Overview
Our client is a single source supplier of building automation products, services, and solutions.  With extensive supplier partnerships, massive product inventory and client-facing, in-house technical experts with over 350 years of combined experience, they can help any customer find the right solution for their building automation project.
Oldfield Staffing has been tasked with locating a US-based Director of Sales to provide leadership to the outside sales organization to optimize growth and increase market share from controls contractors throughout North America.  This Director of Sales will lead a national sales team to drive account growth and develop winning opportunity management strategies, as well as coordinate outside sales activities with the inside sales teams and serve as a key leader on the senior sales leadership team.
This opportunity will have day to day responsibilities and a required background as follows:
  • Leads the outside sales team members that are situated throughout North America to achieve financial and strategic goals and objectives by leading the following strategies:
    • Management of assigned accounts of the outside sales team
    • Opportunity management of strategic projects assigned to the outside sales team
  • Drives monthly sales performance to budget and forecast across North America.
  • Ensures that the outside sales team works in coordination with the inside sales team, Sales Directors, and the Senior Director of Strategic Accounts to drive account and opportunity management strategies to promote account growth and customer value.
  • Ensures that the outside sales team follows defined processes through consistent tool usage to enhance sales performance. These processes include, but are not limited to, account plan reviews, opportunity management reviews, and one-on-ones.
  • Increases sales productivity of the outside sales team by ensuring that all direct reports have established goals, personal development plans, and receive a monthly one-on-one.
  • Works with the senior sales leadership team to evaluate and staff additional outside sales team positions throughout North America.
  • Travel 50%-75% to customer and partner locations
Directly supervises assigned team members. This position carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Bachelor's degree (B.S.) in engineering, marketing, or related field and a minimum of five years of sales experience in the construction or BAS market to include sales management and direct sales experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
In addition, the candidate must possess a general working knowledge of BAS industry including the role of the customers, consultants, contractors, and end users as well as demonstrated knowledge of the construction marketplace and relationships with key players in the construction market. A valid driver’s license is also required.
